Schools
We now have a dropout rate that is higher than ever before in our state. Our children are not properly prepared for college and worse not at all ready to be productive members of our state. It is time to listen to parents, the school boards and superintendents to gather the information necessary to make the changes needed in schools. Current policies and curriculum are failing our students. It is time to get serious about fixing these problems and returning our education system to the greatest educational system in the nation.
Infrastructure
With our roads and bridges falling apart and our transportation systems being ignored or studied to death, it is time to step up and demand a change. Stop the idea of taxing or tolling before a project is completed. This only allows time and money to be wasted as study after study is undertaken to resolve nothing. It is time to take binding bids, with incentives and penalties, to fix our roads, bridges and transportation systems. These bids are considered and the job is awarded on merit only and then a bond is floated for the cost. Once the project is completed, a toll or tax is implemented to retire the bond. No extension of the tax or toll and no cost over-runs can be accepted.
Government And Taxes
Our state government has grown under the current elected leaders by more than 3% per year. Through rarely, if ever, retiring taxes and continuing to add taxes to each and every one of us, government has spun out of control with growth. It is time to trim government down and retire taxes. To put more money back into the pockets of hard working individuals and help fuel our state economy. In addition, only allowing new taxes or tolls for specific completed projects and retiring those taxes or tolls once the debt for those specific projects has been retired. Never allowing taxes or tolls to be extended beyond the retirement of the debt it was created for and never allowing it to be diverted to any other project or cause.
Returning Government To The Hands Of The People
For too many years our state has pretended to listen while doing whatever was on their agenda. We all remember the stadiums and the vote of the people, not once but twice. It is time for you to put a Friend into state government. I pledge to remain true to my oath of office and to listen to the needs of those that elected me. I will update each and every one of you, every week we are in session. My hope is that you will become more involved with your state government and let me know what I can do for you to make our state the shining beacon that all other states aspire to be like.
Economy And Jobs
Through fixing schools and infrastructure, trimming down government and taxes, and returning government to the people of the great state of Washington, we begin to put more money back into your pockets. As you have more to spend, in our state economy, jobs begin to develop and people go to work. A stronger economy brings back jobs. The healthier our economy becomes, the more jobs we have available and we can allow the homeless and welfare recipients to help themselves to become self sufficient again. As this cycle develops our state will become the example other states will want to model themselves after.
